Posted from Auckland

I know I said I would not update my blog, but I saw this post of Pui from Japan... so I've decided to upload one photo... the internet connection is too slow for any more upload...

I took this with a tripod and 5 sec exposure.

Auckland from Devonport

This place is filled with Asians, I think it's more like I'm in Singapore (coz it's cleaner than Hong Kong) than in NZ... =P You can hear ppl speaking Putonghua, Cantonese, see Chinese restaurants, signs EVERYWHERE!!

Shopping

I don't remember when I started to realise if I wear some pretty "shabby" clothes to shopping, the salespeople treat me differently. I try to avoid wearing stuff that looks cheap when I go shopping.

Last week, I have an extra 2 hours to spare, I was wearing my usual attire to work which is T-short and pants and a huge backpack. =P I had nothing better to do, so I did some window shopping.

I realised 2 things. First, as your self-confidence grows, it doesn't matter what you're going to wear. I remember I used to care about the brand names of the stuff I wore, not now, I can wear HK$20 stuff and still feel comfortable. =) (Where did I get these $20 stuff?? From my mom obviously... sigh...)

Second, there's no way ANYONE will ever think I am a Chinese tourist when I wear simple cheap stuff!! HAHAHAHAHA!!!

Packing list

After years of going to camping and traveling, and realising I SHOULD HAVE TAKE THAT WITH ME! I've made my own packing list for all occasions.

The problem with this trip... it's winter in New Zealand, and I have to take lots of thick coats, socks, sweaters, etc...

These are some packing lists available on the web, I've used them before and I've found them very useful. Please check these sites out!

The Universal Packing List
One Bag

I still think your own packing list is essential for everyone, coz everyone needs different things on their trip, e.g. I need White Flower Oil (I'm sure I can't find it on any of these lists, haha!!)

And the universal packing list is a bit too long, tho you can find some interesting use of things you have like...
Dental floss
Is said to be perfect as a cheese slicer, and reports say it is perfect as heavy-duty sewing thread! "I also found it useful to mend my tent, tie up a broken strap on my daypack, even as an emergency shoelace! I heard of travellers using it as fishing line when camping beside rivers and lakes. Floss is very strong, practically unbreakable in most situations."
- Stephen Psallidas

Or something you've never imagined you'll bring on a trip
Disposable syringes
In remote parts of the world, take some disposable syringes with you in case you need medical attention and want to avoid glass needles. Doctors in developing countries may have the best of intentions but sterilizing equipment may not always be possible or practiced.

HAHA!!

Names

In order to decrease the number of people having the exactly the same name, the Chinese government suggested that people can use both their mother and father's last name, well, it sounds normal to English speaking people, because many of them have been doing this.

However, when someone told me a name with two surnames, I'll probably think that is a married woman... weird if a guy have such a name...

Is that such a big problem to have people with the same names???

Google Sightseeing

I've downloaded Google Earth long ago, but seldom use it nowadays.

And someone made this Google sightseeing website.
"Why bother seeing the world for real? Join us as we go sightseeing around the globe with satellite images from Google Earth and Google Maps."

You can even see the house where Paris Hilton lives in... wow...

There are sights from Hong Kong as well.

Do you know where this building is??

Image002

A friend of mine said she doesn't want to get into the building. (If you recognise the building you'll know why.)

I don't mind shopping there, but there's nothing special inside... hmm...

McDonald's

Tried this new Double Filet O' Fish today

Image004

As a set...

Image003

You see how many plastic bags and paper bags and wrappings there are... Most surprisingly, when I opened the packaging...

Image000

THERE'S AN ADDITIONAL LAYER OF WRAPPING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
