The fabulous Dumbledore?

Dumbledore is gay, 'Harry Potter' author reveals

She then explained that Dumbledore was smitten with rival Gellert Grindelwald, whom he defeated long ago in a battle between good and bad wizards. "Falling in love can blind us to an extent," Rowling said of Dumbledore's feelings, adding that Dumbledore was "horribly, terribly let down."

Dumbledore's love, she observed, was his "great tragedy."

I've never been a great Harry Potter fan. I've read the books apart from the last one. (I've been waiting until after my exams to read it since I'm not particularly looking forward to it.) Seriously I have never even thought about the possibility of Dumbledore being gay, for me he's just a great grandfatherly character. What strikes me are the last two paragraphs in this piece of the news...

Rowling, finishing a brief "Open Book Tour" of the United States, her first tour here since 2000, also said that she regarded her Potter books as a "prolonged argument for tolerance" and urged her fans to "question authority."

Not everyone likes her work, Rowling said, likely referring to Christian groups that have alleged the books promote witchcraft. Her news about Dumbledore, she said, will give them one more reason.

Seriously, what kind of impression are "Christians" giving now??

Someone asked Rowling about whether Dumbledore found his true love, and she said he's gay, and he had fallen in love with another guy before, but that guy turned out to be a bad wizard. So it's kinda tragic. =P

And she said the director of the new Harry Potter movie wanted to include a love interest for Dumbledore, but Rowling told him no, coz Dumbledore was gay.

And apparently many fans have already thought of that before coz Dumbledore didn't have a wife or gf, so they speculated he might be gay even before Rowling said so...

the actual video of what happened during the question and answer session

And then now, all these ppl are asking, why Rowling chose this time for Dumbledore to be "outed". Is it because she was afraid parents might stopped kids from reading the last book if it were revealed before??

your explanation makes me think that dumbledore falls in love with voldemort...

Not Voldermort, I think the "infatuation" is an important part of the last book, but since I still haven't read the last one, so I'm not sure who the guy exactly is... =P

according to Rowling, sensitive adults should be able to pick up hints that Dumbledore is more than "friends" with the guy. =P
