I need to work on the first day of the year of Pig. That afternoon, I was greeted by a workman I had never seen before, and he said "Kung Hei Fat Choi" to me. I have always hated that greeting, it's just too money-minded for me... Anyway, I said "Happy New Year."
Then, he said "Lai See Dou Loi (Give Me Lai See Money)". What?!! I said jokingly, "I'm not married yet, haha!" while I'm fuming inside...
I don't even know you and you dared to ask me for $.
And I guess another thing to learn is that I'm really getting old, people are asking me for "lai see"... I've got to think of some suitable responses for the next time... it's going to happen again... I'm sure... oh...
I really hate Chinese New Year.

amy, it's good that we are not married yet. Ms V from your current hospital just called me saying that she was conquered by the nurses. and she wasn't very happy that even the married ones asked her for lai see.
haha...carmen, u know what, I said the same thing to brother F, and he showed no response. then i said jokingly that i am not married yet, and surprisingly, he replied, "I haven't packed any red packets yet." Funny, right? I actually didn't mean to 'dou' his 'lai see', but wanna make fun of him. but it turned out that I was the one being played. =P
That guy's face is so thick. I won't give those I never talked to or met. I will say, "I don't give lai see to stranger."
I may apply leave when I got a job during Chinese New Year, since I hate it, too.
Brother F is really "king"!!
I got a "lai see" from WKL today! haha!!
I never ask people for Lai See, if they wanna give it to me, they will. Like WKL today. I'm not that greedy or that poor...
Seriously the place I currently work in is diff from the place Ms V works in... there're no swarms of locust nurses asking for lai see...
that's why most of them need quota from lai see...
I think if I EVER get married, I'll also get leave during CNY... I'd rather spend my $ on traveling than giving them to all these ppl... haha!!
yeah. i also hated these things too.
really did not like it when the security guards downstairs rotate to so many different ones during CNY(including those from different blocks)...
and i was at block g today for pm study when this cleaning lady came in 'happy new year', and woke me up from sleep twice by doing that, afterwards going on to talk loudly on the phone in the room inside 'bilibala bilibala' so i gave up my sleep PLUS study. of course i just said 'happy new yr'.
i also feel reluctant to say 'happy new yr' to pple at times too, it seems like i am so obviously asking for lai see. but actually wishing a happy new year does not equal 'give me lai see'..and should be a greeting/sign of good will...and really why are some grown up adults earning their own adequate money for living so desparate for lai see? will appreciate receiving it as good will...but i do not think going around the place saying the 'tongue twisters' just to collect them is that nice...
you know, i 'played' brother F yesterday. made 2 jokes on him. he looked after 2 OTs yesterday, and mine was supposed to end on time, he told me that it's good to have mine on time. but i replied, 'you can't leave anyway coz your other OT hasn't ended'. all the ppl in my theatre laughed at him, and he was so 'mo loi'. also, i told him to leave when i reversed the pt, n go home to take care of his kids. but it reminded his 'sadness' that all his family are still in Shanghai!!! maybe that's the reason why he really hasn't packed red packets coz he was abroad in the first few days of CNY! Ha...
WKL gave you lai see b/cos he went to your current hospital this thur, right? it's so good to meet him there, but not the other mo liu ppl. =P
yeah, he came here to do list, that's why I got lai see from WKL
wow! lai see from Bro F Beta v2.1, it's just beta version, may fail at anytime... =P probably got bugs!
