Reading Gaudy Night

As you grow up, you'll lose contact with your old schoolmates, friends and colleagues. Occasionally, you'll have some sort of a reunion where you meet friends you have not seen for years.

As I am reading Gaudy Night, Harriet Vane (the heroine of the story) made an interesting observation during one of these reunions. When I reflected upon it, I found it very true, however, I have never noticed this before.

"They had evidently kept in touch with one another, for they were discussing things and not people, as those who do have lively interests in common."

Of course, this is not true when you're talking about the latest gossips. Haha!!!
